On Friday, April 24, something really strange will take place.
People across Canada—and well beyond, frankly—will start wearing two different shoes.
Yes, it’ll look a little, uh… weird.
But that’s exactly the point.
Welcome to the world’s first Impossible Pair Day (an offshoot of PACT!’s signature Impossible Pair initiative), a day where schools, workplaces and communities will use their shoes to show that even if we’re different… we can still move forward together.
In other words: “Different shoes. Different people. So what?”
This action isn’t silly or trite. Two mismatched shoes do something remarkably powerful: they grab attention.
And attention starts conversations…Conversations that build respect, kindness, and help bridge our differences…The type of conversations that spark the change we desperately need right now.
Because today’s reality is frighteningly serious. Nearly 70% of young people in Canada report having experienced bullying, hate or violence.
That’s why the anti-hate/pro-goodness agitators at PACT! and ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity created the Impossible Pair Day.
It’s easy to get involved. All you have to do is wear two different shoes on Friday, April 24…then post them on social media with your take on its message. If you can, you can also make a symbolic $2 donation to support the cause. (Click here or use the QR code below!)
-
Half of the funds will support ENSEMBLE’s work fighting bullying and discrimination among young people. The other half will be given back through a contest, allowing five participants to support charities working to promote respect and social justice. Talk about paying it forward!
Impossible Pair Day is powered by international fashion footwear giant ALDO, which operates stores in over 100 countries and is deeply committed to social causes and sustainability. (ALDO is also running a promotion relating to Impossible Pair Day. Check it out here.). Other partners dedicated to the cause and the day include L’Oréal Canada and Air Canada, countless celebrities, schools, offices, associations, government representatives, fashion luminaries and people we don’t even have categories for yet.
So what about you? Ready to step up? Just:
- Put on two different shoes.
- Snap and share.
- Start and continue the conversation.
- And show the world that even in our differences…we can still move forward together.
Trust us, you won’t believe the power you hold…in your feet!
(And check back here from time to time to see how things went!)
